Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn Awards Prizes
In Annual Halloween Costume Contest!
BAY RIDGE – There were pirates, princesses, superheroes, zombies, witches and ghouls galore at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn on Halloween, all competing for top prize in the Academy’s Annual Halloween Costume Contest, held inside the John Lockwood Auditorium Theatre. Students from Pre-K through 12th Grade came to school dressed in elaborate costumes and walked the runway inside the auditorium to loud cheers, showcasing their creations in an effort to
Upper School contest winners were Kiavana, Matthew and Josh. Kiavana’s Queen of Hearts costume impressed the judges and won her third prize. Matthew’s inflatable sumo wrestler costume earned him second prize. Josh’s portrayal of Frozone from Disney’s The Incredibles certainly made an impact on the judges, as they awarded him first prize!
Members of Adelphi’s faculty and staff also participated in the contest and walked the runway, dressed as cowboys, animals and everything in between. Senior Student Advisory Board members Arber, Anthony and Natalie served as judges for the faculty contest and awarded top prize to Ms. Fregara for her reindeer costume.
Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said, “Halloween is always an exciting and enjoyable day at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn. From the Lower Schoolers starting the day with a trick-or-treat parade around the building, to our Annual Costume Contest, to spending the afternoon volunteering at the Annual Bay Ridge Haunted Halloween Walk in Owl’s Head Park, Adelphians are always very involved in this special day. I congratulate all of this year’s Costume Contest winners and encourage everyone to participate again next year!”
