BAY RIDGE — Talk about going green! Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn students, faculty and staff came to school on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 dressed in green clothing and accessories to mark St. Patrick’s Day! The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dress Down event saw Adelphians wear their brightest and best outfits for the special day. Lower Schoolers also sported colorful handmade Leprechaun hats!

The event served as a salute to St. Patrick and Irish culture, but also as a chance for Adelphians of all cultures to come together to show their school spirit. Special St. Patrick’s Day Grams — gold chocolate coins, rainbow lollipops and shamrock plushies — were purchased by students for their friends and teachers. Hundreds of grams were distributed by members of Adelphi’s Student Advisory Board to their grateful recipients.

Students also spent time learning about the various traditions behind this special day. Adelphians of all ages also enjoyed posing for photos in front of Adelphi’s banner in the Panther Cafe, which was adorned with original rainbow and Leprechaun artwork they colored for the occasion.

Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said, “By uniting to take part in a themed dress down day, students and staff were able to showcase their school spirit and the strong sense of community that exists at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn. The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dress Down event and the distribution of St. Patrick’s Day Grams allowed Adelphians to come together and show their appreciation for Irish culture, as well as for each other.”
