Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn Welcomes
Supporters to Annual Fall Auction of Fine Art!
BAY RIDGE – Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn welcomed a capacity crowd for its Annual Fall Auction of Fine Art, Cigar Night & Cocktail Reception in the Academy’s John Lockwood Auditorium Theatre (named for the Academy’s founder) on Friday, October 11th, 2019. Art enthusiasts joined local business and community leaders, Adelphi parents and Academy supporters for an elegant evening featuring hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, butler-style wine and cheese, mini pastries, Italian coffee, freshly rolled cigars and live piano accompaniment.
Among the guests in attendance was prominent attorney and longtime Adelphi friend and supporter Joseph Mure Jr., founder and organizer of the Little North Pole — a special annual fundraiser exclusively benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation each year in Neponsit, Queens. Adelphi is happy to support and participate in the Little North Pole each year. Mure, a past president of the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Club, brought several Club members with him to the event, including incoming Club President Scott Palma and Frank Naccarato, who serves on the Club’s Board of Directors. They enjoyed bidding on items throughout the evening and went home with a number of collectibles. Also in attendance were Merchants of Third Avenue Co-Treasurer Brian Chin of Northfield Bank, Bay Ridge Fifth Avenue BID Executive Director Amanda Zenteno, Signature Bank Senior Vice President James McHugh, financial planner Caren Sgarlato, 62nd Precinct Commander Capt. Anthony Longobardi and former State Senator Marty Golden, among others.
Guests had the opportunity to bid on memorabilia pertaining to Hollywood, sports, politics and music, as well as one-of-a-kind works of fine art and fine jewelry provided by Adelphi’s longtime partner, RSI Fundraising Auctions. A highlight of the evening was the auctioning of original artwork created by current Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn students as well as pieces by Adelphi faculty members Ms. Krista Kohler and Art Instructor Ms. Nikki Fregara. Proud parents and supporters bid feverishly to make sure they were able to take many of these one-of-a-kind treasures home while supporting Adelphi.
Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said, “The folks at RSI Fundraising Auctions provided so many incredible items on which to bid and treated our guests to a wonderful experience, but the spirit of Adelphi was truly felt during the auctioning of original student and staff artwork. The good-natured bidding wars that took place among guests and families to obtain these one-of-a-kind pieces of art created by our talented Adelphians was exciting and certainly made a fantastic event even more special. We are so grateful for the attendance, support and participation of everyone, especially our wonderful families.”
