Adelphians Showcase Creativity, Humor on Mismatch Day!
BAY RIDGE – Now that’s a fashion statement! Mismatch Day at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn served as a chance for students, faculty and staff to come to school on Thursday, February 10th dressed in outrageously mismatched clothing as part of Adelphi’s continuing Spirit Day program. Adelphians enjoyed showing school spirit and unity while sharing their sense of humor and creativity through their fashion choices.
There were different-colored socks, different shoes, stripes on solids, clashing colors, shorts worn over pants, shirts turned inside out, multiple neckties and misplaced hair clips galore on this special day. Students and staff enjoyed posing for photos as they admired each other’s inventive outfits. The day also served as a powerful lesson in acceptance and tolerance, according to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos.
“Self-expression is such an important part of each student’s individual development, and Mismatch Day allows Adelphians to express themselves through their outrageous fashion choices in an environment that celebrates their creativity and sense of humor,” Ms. Romanos said. “This Spirit Day event is a fun reminder that no matter how we look or dress, and despite our differences, we are all part of the same nurturing community at Adelphi.”
As the oldest private, independent, continuing, coeducational, college-preparatory day school in the borough and one of the oldest in the nation, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, “the little school of big dreams” has been “effectively preparing young people for college, career, and life, one day at a time” for over 150 years.
