BAY RIDGE – It’s a Winter Wonderland! Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn students and staff spent a recent Saturday morning decorating the Neponsit Beach, Queens home of longtime Adelphi supporter and friend Joseph Mure Jr., a prominent attorney who hosts the Annual Little North Pole event at his home each year to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Adelphians volunteered to help transform Mr. Mure’s home into a winter wonderland in time for this year’s event, to be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. Adelphi Academy is proud to once again serve as a major sponsor and supporter of this event.

As part of the setup process, Adelphi’s volunteers unloaded hundreds of life-sized decorations and assisted in placing them around the property. From life-sized toy soldiers to Santa statues to snowmen and wreaths aplenty, the holiday spirit was put on full display. Adelphi Art Instructor and Lead Teacher Ms. Nikki Fregara also led talented student-artists in designing, building and hand-painting giant, larger-than-life dreidels from scratch.

“Joe is a proud supporter of the Academy and a wonderful example to our students of what dedication, community and charity truly means,” said Adelphi’s Director of Academy Operations and close personal friend to Mure, Mr. Albert C. Corhan. “Adelphi is proud to support him and the Little North Pole event each year, which raises thousands of dollars to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.”

The annual event draws thousands of visitors each year and features live musical performances from professional recording artists as well as local student groups, plus delicious food, refreshments and lots of surprise celebrity guests! The stage will even be set up for an early visit from Santa Claus himself!

Our involvement in the Little North Pole is such a wonderful experience for our students and our school community and is an excellent example of Adelphi’s willingness to give back to causes that truly capture the holiday spirit.”
