Oracle Fall 2019

News From Around the School Rock, Paper, Scissors Says... By: Isabella Matone, Grade 10 Shoot! On September 13th, 2019, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn stu- dents and faculty took part in a very intense, competitive and exciting House competition: The Annual Rock, Paper, Scissors Relay! There were a few rules to this game to make it fair and competi- tive. First, each House lined up be- hind a row of hula hoops. Next, one participant from each House jumped through the hoops until meeting each other for a head-to-head matchup of wits and skill. The winner of this “Rock, Paper, Scissors” matchup would keep jumping until the next matchup. The objective of the competition was to get to the other side of the hoop line by beating all the opponents standing in the way. The first team to have all of its players reach the other side would win the competition. The first two Houses to face off were House Morrill and House Lockwood. Then, House Levermore and House Ellinwood faced off. The two winners of those matchups then went head to head in a final battle to see who would come out on top. In the end, the Rock, Paper, Scis- sors Relay was won by members of House Ellinwood! Adelphians walked to the park together dressed in Academy colors to show school spirit. Students had a great time letting out some energy and enjoying some time outside the classroom. Lower School students were able to enjoy the playground, which had swings, slides, monkey bars and little courses for them to crawl, jump and run through. Upper and Middle School students were at the big field playing sports all around and enjoying a relaxing day on blankets with friends. Many played basketball on the park’s beautiful courts. It was a perfect day for exer- cise and relaxation. Upper and Middle Schoolers played basketball during Field Day! Lower Schoolers enjoyed spending time on the playground!
