Members of Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Theater Arts Program have been rehearsing for the up- coming Spring musical revue called Adelphi Love , directed by Ms. Fre- gara. Students in the program stay for rehearsals after school to prac- tice songs they will perform live on June 17th. Theater Arts Director Ms. Fregara and Musical Director Mr. Bates both coach the chorus on their vocals. During rehearsals, students are con- tinuously singing and dancing. The ensemble is made up of talented Mid- dle and Upper Schoolers, and several members of the Class of 2022 are also involved in the play. Isabelle, for example, has been teaching choreography to the students for several songs. “I feel very grateful to share this experience with the Adelphi students and I can’t wait to see how it un- folds,” she said. Isabelle has professional dancing experience has been dancing since she was a child. “I’ve taken hip-hop, contempo- rary, lyrical, ballet, jazz, ballroom and Latin dancing,” she said. “I’m thrilled to coach the students and see their progress on the day of the play. I am hoping that they can achieve some knowledge in dance.” Fellow Class of 2022 member Misa is a part of the ensemble, but also serves as assistant to the director along with her classmate Maxelle. “I am a proud Adelphian and a part of the Theater Arts Program. As the assistant to the director, I really enjoy my time singing, act- ing, doing makeup, collecting food orders and all in all helping Ms. Fregara,” Misa told the Oracle . Misa is singing in the show along- side her fellow seniors Richard, Isaac and Matthew. “I have loved participating in the Theater Arts Program since I first started,” Richard said. “Singing was a passion I found and the opportuni- ty offered through the program helped me embrace it more. It has definitely improved my vocals and helped me get over my stage fright. My favorite memory of the program was singing ‘New York, New York’ by Frank Sinatra.” Matthew, who has appeared in eight shows already, shared his favor- ite memory as well. “Since I was a child, I’ve always admired the plays held by the Theater Arts Program,” Matthew said.
