Oracle Winter 2022

By: The Oracle Staff Now that’s a fashion statement! Mismatch Day at Adelphi Acad- emy of Brooklyn served as a chance for students, faculty and staff to come to school on Thursday, Febru- ary 10th dressed in outrageously mismatched clothing as part of Adelphi’s continuing Spirit Day program. Adelphians enjoyed show- ing school spirit and unity while sharing their sense of humor and creativity through their fashion choices. There were different-colored socks, different shoes, stripes on solids, clashing colors, shorts worn over pants, shirts turned inside out, multiple neckties and misplaced hair clips galore on this special day. Stu- dents and staff enjoyed posing for photos as they admired each other’s inventive outfits. The day also served as a powerful lesson in ac- ceptance and tolerance, according to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Ro- manos. “Self-expression is such an important part of each student’s individual development, and Mis- match Day allows Adelphians to express themselves through their outrageous fashion choices in an environment that celebrates their creativity and sense of humor,” Ms. Romanos said. “This Spirit Day event is a fun reminder that no matter how we look or dress, and despite our differences, we are all part of the same nurturing commu- nity at Adelphi.” V O L U M E L X X I I , I S S U E 2 THE ADELPHI ORACLE INSIDE THI S I SSUE : Founded 1863 8515 Ridge Boulevard Bay Ridge Brooklyn, New York 11209-4307 We’re on the Web! adelphi.org Follow Us @adelphiacademy Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn School News 1-16 Q&A: New Advisory Board Members 7-8 Q&A: New Faculty 8 Of the Months 14-15 Sports 17-18 Entertainment 19-20 Science 21 Talkin’ Tech 22 Gamer’s Guide 22 Food 23-24 Fashion 25-26 Beauty 26 Comics 27 Puzzles 28 W I N T E R 2 0 2 2 Upper Schooler Karen strikes a playful pose on Mismatch Day!
