By: IlonaMakovetskaya, Grade 11 &Susan Benjamin, Grade 11 “Take 5!” Members of Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Theater Arts Program celebrated the 5 year anniversary of the program with an original produc- tion paying homage to every show produced at Adelphi over the past 5 years. Audience members packed the John Lockwood Auditorium Theatre for three exclusive perform- ances: Friday, February 28th, Satur- day, February 29th and Sunday, March 1st. The Adelphian Masquers’ 5 Year Anniversary Show! featured an origi- nal script that linked Adelphi’s the- atrical productions ( Little Shop of Horrors , Bye Bye Birdie , Back to the 80’s , Damn Yankees and Grease ) with its original musical revues ( A Broadway Musical Revue , A Disney Musical Revue! , A Beatles Musical Revue , Adelphi’s Got Talent! , Adel- phi Rocks! and Adelphi Pop! ). The show featured highlights from each of these productions, making for an unforgettable evening. Going down memory lane was extremely fun for cast and audi- ence alike, but the most intriguing part was that many new actors and actresses got to reinvent these popular roles and put their own spin on them. This year the Theater Arts Program welcomed several new members from Middle School and Upper School, along with re- turning veterans of the Adelphi stage.
