BAY RIDGE – Students, faculty and staff at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn came to the historic school dressed in pajamas on Friday, January 25th, 2019, but it wasn’t because they all overslept. It was to show their school spirit on Adelphi’s Annual Pajama Day!

Adelphians of all ages were invited and encouraged to come to school dressed in their most comfortable and colorful sleepwear – bathrobes, slippers, etc. – and even teddy bears and stuffed animals were welcomed! Some siblings came dressed in matching pajama sets, which added to the fun. Pajama Day was the latest in a series of special annual themed dress-down days that Adelphi has established and refers to as Spirit Days.

This year’s event served as a chance to raise awareness and show support for Pietro’s Fight, an organization devoted to the battle against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The organization organizes similar “PJs for PJ” events throughout the year to raise awareness for their cause. Adelphi was proud to join that initiative on Pajama Day, bringing a deeper meaning to an established Spirit Day tradition.

The response, according to Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos, was overwhelmingly positive.

“It’s always great to see everyone come together to take part in a fun-filled schoolwide activity like this, especially when it is linked to a community-wide cause like the battle against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy,” Ms. Romanos said. “Adelphi has always been an institution rich with tradition and well known for its sense of school spirit and unity; on Pajama Day, Adelphians stood united with the leaders of Pietro’s Fight as they raise awareness through their ‘PJs for PJ’ initiative.”
