On September 12, 2022, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn opened its doors for the first day of school and began its historic 160th anniversary celebration. Adelphians could feel the excitement when walking into the school. “There’s nothing quite like the thrill of the first day of school, but this year’s opening is extremely exciting for all of us here at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn,” Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said. “Not only are we embracing the present with a full calendar of activi- ties, events, trips and traditions that make Adelphi so special, but we are fondly looking back on the past and all that has been accomplished and celebrating the Academy’s 160 years of academic excellence!” Adelphi’s Musical Director and Dean of Faculty Mr. Bates was also excited to see everyone. “It’s going to be a great year as we start our 160th anniversary!” he said. Everyone met up in the John Lockwood Auditorium Theatre. One by one, classes were called to go up to their homerooms. There, students got to meet their teachers and class- mates. Middle Schooler Sarah said, “I was very excited to go back to school this year because I was thrilled to meet my friends!” During the first week of school, Adelphians participated in many fun activities and icebreakers.
