Oracle Summer 2020

By: The Oracle Staff “Remember, no matter where we are, or where life takes us, one thing remains true: #AdelphiIsHome! ” Those inspiring words were shared with families at the close of Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s historic 157th academic year as part of a comprehensive slideshow composed of highlights from the past year — both before and during the Academy’s transition to distance learning. They bear special meaning to anyone affiliated with the Academy, according to Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos. “Adelphi Academy is indeed home to so many wonderful students, professionals and families,” she said. “While we were all forced to remain physically at home throughout the period of distance learning, the sense of ‘home’ that exists at Adelphi remained strong and brought comfort to many as we transitioned to a virtual learn- ing environment.” As part of the distance learning experi- ence, Adelphians were given a custom 2019-2020 #AdelphiIsHome window seal to cut out and display as a symbol of unity and strength during difficult times. Stu- dents and their families enjoyed cutting out the seal, which featured a giant panther paw print, and taping it to their windows where it could be seen and appreciated by neighbors and passersby. “The #AdelphiIsHome window seals served as the perfect way to show school spirit and unity in the face of adversity,” Ms. Romanos said. “How inspiring to see so many colorful panther paw prints hang- ing in windows throughout Brooklyn, Staten Island and beyond!” The hashtag has taken on new meaning in recent months as Adelphi is making final preparations to open up for full in- person instruction in the fall. “We are so excited to welcome every- one back to their academic home when the Academy re-opens its doors in Septem- ber!” Ms. Romanos said. “I can’t wait to be the first one to officially say, ‘Welcome home!’” P A G E 2 , T H E A D E L P H I O R A C L E , S U M M E R 2 0 2 0 Mr. DeCrescenzo cuts out his window seal to display at home!
