Adelphians March in Annual Children’s Ragamuffin Parade By: Andre Pantaleo, Grade 12 Adelphians love a parade! The Annual Children’s Ragamuffin Parade took place on Saturday, Sep- tember 28th, 2019. This annual event is very special to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn because students of all ages participate in the parade each year. The Ragamuffin Parade features children and their families marching in elaborate and creative costumes along Third Avenue in Bay Ridge. This year was the 53rd year that this event has taken place. The parade started at 1 p.m. on the corner of 76th Street and Third Avenue. It continued down the avenue past the Ragamuffin Reviewing Grand- stand on the corner of 90th Street and Third Avenue and officially ends at the HSBC parking lot on 92nd Street. Each child who participated in the parade received a gift. Adelphi’s Stu- dent Advisory Board members carried the school banner with pride as Lower Schoolers rode the parade route in style aboard a motorized toy train! Adelphi Academy Volunteers Help Set Up Little North Pole By: Maksim Li, Grade 10 ’Tis the season to give back. Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn Upper Schoolers and staff members helped to set up the Little North Pole at the home of Adelphi supporter Mr. Joseph Mure Jr. on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. The Annual Little North Pole event raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Re- search Foundation and thousands of peo- ple attend. This year the event takes place on Sunday, December 8th. Students helped by unloading two trucks full of life-sized Christmas decorations and then putting them all together. Students also painted giant dreidels that Adelphi created out of wood. There were hundreds of decora- tions and lights in all. Volunteers were treated to donuts, bagels, croissants and coffee. Later, when it was lunchtime, everyone en- joyed pizza from L&B Spumoni Gar- dens. After a short break, Adelphians went back to helping spread the holi- day spirit.
