Students and their fami- lies gathered for Adelphi’s Inaugural Back to School Bash on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. The all-day event featured live mu- sic from popular band Full Disclosure, as well as delicious food and refresh- ments from Lioni’s Italian Heroes and cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones from Clowning Around NJ NY. The staff from Clowning Around also pro- vided balloon twisting and face paint- ing stations for children and adults, which drew large crowds throughout the day. There was even a photo booth provided by Selfie Glam NY that fea- tured tons of fun fashion props and back-to-school-themed signs. “Adelphi’s Inaugural Back to School Bash was a tremendous suc- cess and served as a great way to offi- cially welcome everyone back to school,” Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos said. “There is a lot to cele- brate here at Adelphi, and what better way to celebrate than by hosting a huge, free party featuring delicious food, live music, fun and games for our students and their families!” Full Disclosure rocked the crowd with a decades-spanning set list that covered classics like Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer” and modern favor- ites like “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran. In between sets, the crowd was treated to a live performance by the talented members of Adelphi Academy’s House Band — Musical Director Mr. Robert Bates on key- board, Director of Academy Opera- tions Mr. Albert C. Corhan on percus- sion, Theater Arts Director Ms. Nikki Fregara on vocals, Mr. Khalil Curtiss on saxophone, Mr. Mike Shaw on bass guitar and Mr. John Coughlin on vo- cals and guitar. They performed an eclectic mix of songs ranging from “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedance Clearwater Revival to “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes. The performance tied into an an- nouncement by Ms. Romanos about plans for the Academy’s new Adelphi Rocks Musical Arts Program, through which students will be able to pursue their individual musical interests in a comprehensive, hands-on manner. “Being able to perform live for our families at the bash was a tremendous honor and served as the perfect plat- form to introduce the Adelphi Rocks Musical Arts Program, about which the entire band is excited,” Mr. Cor- han said. “Our thanks to the folks from Full Disclosure for sharing the stage, and their instruments, during this very special event. Their enthusi- astic performance set the tone for what’s going to be an eventful school year.” Adelphi Hosts Inaugural Back to School Bash!
