Members of Adelphi Academy’s Class of 2022 marked a very special milestone on May 5th, 2021 as they received their official class rings in front of family mem- bers and friends inside the John Lockwood Auditorium Theatre. The annual event serves as a chance to reflect upon the ac- complishments of Adelphi’s junior class members while acknowledging that they are set to enter their senior year with great aspirations and goals. Class of 2022 member and ring recipi- ent Maksim said he couldn’t wait to par- ticipate in this cherished tradition. “This is definitely a chapter in my life that will bring me new memories and more knowledge,” he said. Members of Adelphi’s Class of 2021, who received their rings last year, were on hand to help distribute the rings to mem- bers of the junior class as part of the tradi- tion. Reflecting upon receiving his own ring last year, Class of 2021 member Wil- liam said, “The class ring shows the bond we have formed together and is a symbol of the memories that the whole class has experienced with each other.” As part of the ceremony, class ring recipient Isaac showcased his musical talent and wowed the crowd by playing the piano. Then junior and Student Advisory Board member Yura was given the oppor- tunity to deliver the Junior Class Ring Address to the audience. It is an honor that Yura took seriously. “I feel very honored that I stood in front of everyone and delivered the speech. I really thank Ms. Romanos and Mr. Corhan for giving me this opportu- nity,” he said. Following Yura’s remarks, it was time for the presentation of the rings! Class of 2021 members lined up to hand out the rings to their assigned member of the Junior class. Ms. Romanos also pre- sented each recipient with a special cer- tificate commemorating this milestone event. Class ring recipient Maxelle said she was very excited to be able to receive her class ring alongside her classmates be- cause they are all taking the next step into senior year together. She recognized the significance of the moment as well as the lasting impact the evening will have on her. “In the future, I think this class ring will be a symbolic representation of all the great memories I’ve had at Adelphi and ones I will always share and cherish,” she said. Once the rings were presented, mem- bers of both classes sang “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley for the audience. To finish off the night, students in the Theater Arts Program performed a song called “With a Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker. Afterward, proud family members, friends and faculty members joined the juniors for pictures and offered their con- gratulations on this special milestone.
