Dior x Jordan 1: Epic Collaboration Maison Dior Artistic Director Kim Jones has once again taken the fashion world by storm. Jones was responsible for the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Supreme. Deemed by many as the biggest collaboration of the last decade, Jones officially brought streetwear to the forefront of fashion. Fast forward to today, Jones has done it once again. Pairing up with the world- renowned shoe brand Jordan (a subsidiary of Nike), they’ve crafted together an iconic silhouette with the design and materials of the fashion house. Retailing at a mere $2,000, these shoes have shaken the indus- try and have received a rumored release date of April 2020. Despite their immediate popularity, it’s also been rumored that these Dior x Jordan 1s will be produced in extremely limited quantities, around 1,000 pairs in total. Peo- ple have already been reserving pairs through contacts at Dior, and if all pairs haven’t been allocated yet, they will be soon. A shoe like this, combining two dynamic worlds, comes around very rarely in the industry and should not be taken lightly. The Jordan 1 is normally made in China, but these are being manufactured in Dior factories in Italy. The material and leather will come from the fashion house itself, which Nike has almost never al- lowed before. Made of top-of-the-line leather, this shoe features the Dior Oblique jacquard pattern on the swoosh, and “Air Dior” embossed above with a remix of the classic Air Jordan wing logo. The tongue also features a Dior motif scaled down and laser-etched into the material. “Every collaboration we do starts from a genuine connection and desire to expand the dimensions of each brand through crea- tivity and design innovation,” Martin Lotti, Jordan Brand VP of Design, told Nike.com. “Our partnership with Maison Dior will offer a new look into the style of basketball and blend high-end streetwear with luxury fashion.” Jones has done what might have been thought of as impossible 10 years ago, but the fashion world is definitely ready for it. Glitz and glamour marked the 77th An- nual Golden Globe Awards, held on January 5th, 2020 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The Golden Globes are held every year to celebrate and recognize all of the hard work and dedication of the actors and actresses who put their time into entertaining people around the world! Even though this night is about celebrat- ing Hollywood, host Ricky Gervais h as caused some controversy over the years for his overuse of foul language and insulting jokes about the hard-working people who come to be honored. This year proved to be no different as Gervais once again made waves and set the internet buzzing. As far as the awards, Olivia Colman definitely had a night to remember! She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for her outstanding per- formance as Queen Elizabeth II in “The Crown.” This award is one of the most prestigious due to all of the competition in that category. Colman beat out some of the biggest stars in Hollywood: Jennifer Anis- ton, Nicole Kidman, Jodie Comer and Reese Witherspoon. Colman humbly accepted her award and was so grateful to all of the people who have helped her achieve her dreams. Other big winners included Joaquin Phoe- nix ( Joker ), Renee Zellweger ( Judy ), Taron Egerton ( Rocket Man ), Awkwafina ( The Farewell ), Brad Pitt ( Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood ) and Laura Dern ( Marriage Story ). Upper Schooler Richard watched the show and said, “I truly enjoyed the choices that were made by the Hollywood Foreign Press to be the recipients of this year’s awards. This was definitely a night to re- member!” A look at the Golden Globe Awards waiting to be presented. Photo: GoldenGlobes.com The Dior x Jordan I is already taking the fashion world by storm!
