Adelphi’s Mismatch Day Shows Creativity, Spirit!
BAY RIDGE – There’s no such thing as a bad fashion choice on Mismatch Day at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn! Students, faculty and staff were actually encouraged to come to school on Thursday, May 20th dressed in their most outrageously mismatched clothing as part of Adelphi’s continuing Spirit Day program to show school spirit and unity.
The event allowed all members of the Adelphi community to express themselves with the most colorfully mismatched outfits they could imagine. Creativity was a key component of this highly anticipated event. Adelphians wore different-colored socks, different shoes, shorts worn over pants, multiple neckties and different-colored hair clips.
The students admired each other’s outfits and enjoyed posing for photos in front of a backdrop inside the Panther Cafe. Faculty members had a great time leading their daily lessons while dressed in multi-colored pants and mismatched shoes. The day also served as a powerful lesson in acceptance and tolerance, according to Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s Head of School Ms. Iphigenia Romanos.
“Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn’s popular Mismatch Day event is a fun reminder that no matter how we look or dress and despite our differences, we are all part of the same nurturing community,” Ms. Romanos said. “Self-expression is such an important part of each student’s individual development and this event allows Adelphians to express themselves through their outrageous fashion choices and be applauded for their creativity.”
